Home Groups

Overview:

Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20, NRSV).

The vision of Home Groups is to be your home, where you experience the living love of Jesus through relationships with others.

Being connected to a group is an important part of spiritual growth.  Home Groups are communities of people who meet on a regular basis to watch over one another in love by:  encouraging each other, sharing in biblical learning, fellowship, lifestyle accountability and service.

We view Home Groups as primary contact for care and discipleship. They focus on relationships through nurturing, caring and sharing the word of God. They provide a first level of congregational care for all persons in the life of the church.

Who can join a Home Group?

Home groups are open to everyone whether a member or a constituent who will be with us for an undetermined length of time. People who have never participated in a home group or a small group ministry and people from age 12 and up are encouraged to become home group members. Groups may be established as coed or gender specific depending on the needs of the individuals. Home Groups can be as small as 6 and it is recommended that groups be no larger than twelve (12) and that each member commit to the experience for one full year.

Groups meet two times a month at various times and locations including the church. Home groups are open and welcome new people to join.

Lives are formed and transformed in home groups when people meet together to pray, to study, to engage in fellowship, or to work on a specific task.  Here at Shiloh United Methodist Church, we have several unique opportunities available to you so that you might discover the joy of having companions on the journey.

The following are options for meeting times and locations of these opportunities:
