The mission of an Early Response Team (ERT) is to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. The mission is not the task; the mission is the people. We have had many opportunities to serve in our immediate area during the last few months involving the flood and tornado disasters. We certainly hope we do not have as many in the future; however if there is a need the Shiloh UMC Early Response Team will be ready to serve.
“Through volunteers in mission, every person in the church has the opportunity to serve and to live their lives more faithfully. And when we reach out and use what God has given us in the service of others, we have life-transforming experiences” (from ERT Training Manual).
